Ein Od Medinah is a transparent acrylic art box inspired by emergency “break glass” cases. Instead of holding emergency tools, it preserves an Israeli passport — transforming a familiar object into a powerful symbol of identity, protection, and belonging.
Encased within clear blue acrylic and fractured glass, the passport represents Israel as both a refuge and a responsibility. The transparent structure conveys a dual meaning: strength and security alongside vulnerability. The piece invites reflection on what it means to belong, to be protected, and to carry identity in a complex and often uncertain world.
This artwork is part of Alejandro Benzaquen’s ongoing exploration of symbolism, memory, and cultural resilience. Every detail, from the materials to the typography — is intentionally designed to evoke urgency, value, and permanence.
