How to Keep Nonstick Performing Longer
Ceramic nonstick rewards gentle habits. Four rules keep this set performing for a decade:
- Medium heat is the max you'll ever need. The aluminum core makes high heat unnecessary — and high heat is what ages any ceramic coating.
- A drop of oil or butter, always. Ceramic is naturally slick, but a little fat protects the surface and makes food taste better anyway.
- Let it cool before washing. Thermal shock (hot pan, cold water) is the #1 avoidable cause of coating wear.
- Hand-wash in 30 seconds. Nothing sticks, so soap and a soft sponge is all it takes. Skip the dishwasher and steel wool.
